Public Servie 2015: good medal count and tough competition

The 2015 edition of the Public Service Swim Meeting took place on April 25th. NUS was represented by a small but strong team of 5 swimmers.

The NUS team. From left to right: Andrew Wee, Choo Hengkek, Alberto Corrias, Lin Qingsong and Guillem Riambau

Hengkek successfully defended his title in the 50m freestyle active agers event for the third consecutive yar! Once again, he dominated the event from the start...

Hengkek already ahead of everyone
In the same event, Andrew Wee came third collecting one his 3 medals of the day. Andrew also won (again!) the 50m breastroke active agers event and came second in the 50m backstroke.

The 400m freestyle master event saw an incredibly close battle for 3rd place between Alberto and Guillem. While both swimmers achieved their goal of a sub-6 swim, Alberto snatched the medal for a mere 56/100 of a second.

All in all, NUS team collected 5 medals: 2 gold, 1 silver and 2 bronze. Unfortunately, we were unable to maintain our 5th place in the overall institutional standing, finishing 6th out of 19 Singapore institutions.

Here are some photos of the event, courtesy of Qingsong's camera.
